Two years of composition and arrangement. Thirty-nine Beatles songs. Seven symphonies. No vocals, no rhythm section — just a sixty-piece orchestra and the melodies themselves.
Rob van Weelde and Roeland Jacobs took thirty-nine songs apart and rebuilt them, splicing sections of one into another until seven entirely new orchestral works emerged. What survives is the writing: the counter-melodies, the harmonic turns, the small ideas that a voice and a backbeat usually carry past you before you notice them.
The film follows the project from the first sketches at the piano, through the rehearsal room, to the final sessions with the Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra under Brazilian conductor Alexandra Arrieche.
